Day 1: Çeşme – Chios Island

For the Chios Island tour, we meet at 08:00 in the morning at the check-in office at the entrance of the Çeşme customs port. After passport control, our pleasant journey begins at 09:20 in the blue waters of the Aegean. When we arrive at Chios Port, after the entry procedures we meet at our office and start exploring Chios Island, the hidden treasure of the Aegean. Together with our guide, after leaving behind the APLOTERYA, the Chios island market, the MECİDİYE Mosque built by Sultan Abdulmecit, and VOUNAKİ SQUARE, the largest and busiest square of Chios Island, we will visit CHIOS CASTLE, which was built during the BYZANTINE period and later became the administrative center of the island during the GENOESE and OTTOMAN periods in succession, as well as the OTTOMAN works inside it, and then we start our North Island tour. Our first stop is the 4 windmills by the sea (TABAKİKA), one of the island’s most important symbols on every platform. The function of these historic windmills was to draw water for the tanneries (tabakika), which gave the area its name. In recent years, with the contribution of the municipality, they have been restored and have become a memorial point that no tourist coming to the island leaves without seeing. After our photo break here, we continue our tour. Our next stop is DASKALOPETRA, the area where the island’s most famous poet in antiquity, Homer, is said to have brought the Iliad and the Odyssey into world literature. A large rock that was turned into a school by his students in the 6th century BC. This beautiful memorial point will make you question the way of life thousands of years ago and the artistic understanding of that era. Then we take our lunch break in LANGADA, the island’s most charming fishing village. In the classic Greek taverns by the sea, you will have the chance to taste traditional meze and classic dishes of Greek cuisine as well as the freshest seafood. On the way back, we stop for a photo break at the AGIOS ISIDOROS church over the sea, one of the island’s symbolic points. It is said that the story of mastic begins with this Saint. After this stop, transfer to the hotel and free time.

Day 2: Chios Island – Çeşme

After breakfast, we take our seats in the vehicle and start our tour toward the villages in the south of the island, called MASTIHAHORIA, which monopolizes the production of MASTIC on earth. On our tour, our first stop is the village of ARMOLIA, famous for its handmade ceramics for hundreds of years, and a short break to visit one of the famous ceramic workshops. Our next stop is MESTA, which has best preserved its architectural structure to the present day among the many medieval castle-villages on Chios Island. It takes us on a journey through time to the 13th century, the period in which it was built. Moving through its labyrinth-like side streets, we reach the village square in the center and take a coffee break. After visiting the church of Taksiarchis, we leave the village. Our next village is PYRGI, unique in the world with the geometric patterns on its houses. Our guide gives us detailed information about this technique called Ksista, which has been applied for centuries since the Genoese period. Then we go to a tavern by the sea for lunch. Here, our guests can choose whatever they like from a menu consisting of various seafood and meze. At the end of the tour, we bid you farewell from Chios Island Port with beautiful memories.
