Tour Program
Nicosia – Museum of Barbarism – Walled City – Selimiye Mosque – Arasta Bazaar – Arab Ahmet Neighborhood

Following our arrival at Ercan Airport, we meet our guide and transfer vehicle and begin our tour. After a brief briefing at the airport, we depart for Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The distance between Ercan Airport and Nicosia city center is approximately 25 kilometers, and our journey takes an average of 30 minutes. Along the way, we reach Nicosia while receiving information from our guide about Cyprus’s recent history and island culture.

We begin our tour with the Barbarism Museum, which bears witness to the island’s recent history. This house, where the family of Major Physician Nihat İlhan lost their lives during the events of 1963 known in history as “Bloody Christmas,” is now open to visitors as a museum. After visiting the museum accompanied by our guide’s explanations, we see the Green Line, which divides Nicosia into two parts, panoramically.

As our tour continues, we proceed to the Walled City area, where Nicosia’s historic character is felt most strongly. We get off our vehicle at the monumental Kyrenia Gate and begin our walking tour. During our walk inside the walls, we see the Cyprus Turkish History, Culture and National Struggle Museum, Samanbahçe Houses, Sarayönü Square and the Obelisk. We then visit the Selimiye Mosque, one of Nicosia’s most magnificent structures, where Gothic and Ottoman architecture can be seen together.

In the final part of our tour, we take a walk through the Arasta Bazaar, which dates from the Ottoman period to the present day, and see the Lokmacı Border Gate, which connects the northern and southern parts of Nicosia. After a short period of free time, we complete the day’s program and depart for our hotel, where we will stay overnight.

Guests who do not participate in the optional tour may stay at the hotel and enjoy the day.

After having breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we set off towards Kyrenia. Our approximately 40-kilometer journey takes an average of 1 hour. During this pleasant journey, which takes us along the foothills of the Five Finger Mountains, our guide provides us with information about the history of Cyprus and Kyrenia.

After arriving in Kyrenia, our first stop is the Blue Mansion, one of the most interesting structures on the island. With its location, architecture and mysterious story, this mansion is one of the most intriguing structures in Cyprus. During our visit, our guide also provides us with information about the drinking water project, which brings water through underwater pipelines from the Anamur coast of Turkey, and the Geçitköy Dam.

After our visit, we head towards the Karaoğlanoğlu Region, where the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation took place. Here, we visit the Peace and Freedom Museum, Ship Museum, Veteran Helicopter, Open-Air Museum and Martyrdom, giving us the opportunity to see the traces of the Cyprus Peace Operation on site.

Continuing our tour, we head to Bellapais Monastery, located on the foothills of the Five Finger Mountains and captivating with its Gothic architecture. The view of Kyrenia from the monastery offers a unique opportunity for photography enthusiasts.
