SALAMANCA – PORTO – (Porto Masterpieces Tour) – (Fado Show)
After breakfast and checkout, we set off to take our Salamanca city tour. Salamanca is a city in northwestern Spain, built on the banks of the Tormes River, with ancient historical riches stretching from the Carthaginians to the Romans, and home to the University of Salamanca, the first in Spain and one of Europe’s oldest universities; it is a vibrant center of culture, commerce, and tourism. After our sightseeing tour of Salamanca, which was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1988, and some free time at Plaza Mayor, one of Europe’s most beautiful squares, we complete our tour and depart for Porto. On our panoramic city tour, we will see the city’s UNESCO-protected historic fabric and landmark structures. First, we proceed along Avenida dos Aliados. This avenue, one of Porto’s widest boulevards, is among the areas that will be seen panoramically, with its historic granite buildings and the view of the city hall. Next, we will see São Bento Train Station from the outside. The blue-and-white azulejo tiles on the station’s interior walls depict scenes from Portuguese history. On our route, Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto) will be seen panoramically from the outside. Located on one of the city’s highest points, the cathedral area is one of the places where a short break will be given to photograph Porto’s historic center. Then we continue panoramically along the Ribeira District, which stands out with its narrow streets and traditional houses. Afterwards, the UNESCO-listed Luís I Bridge will be seen panoramically. The bridge’s iron construction creates one of the city’s most recognizable silhouettes. From here we reach the Clérigos Tower and Livraria Lello area; the tower will be seen panoramically from the outside and Lello’s façade can be photographed. We complete the tour by seeing Bolhão Market and the surrounding commercial axis. This area, where local products are sold, is one of the places where we can observe Porto’s daily life. After breakfast and checkout, we set off for Sintra. On the way, guests who wish may join our extra Obidos Tour program (40 Euro). In our tour, the Medieval town of Obidos, a hilltop walled settlement with cobblestone streets that conveys to visitors the architectural features of the Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic periods, will be visited; among the main sights are the Roman-origin Obidos Castle, St. John the Baptist Church, and Rua Direita, the main street of the town and one of the most visited places. After the tour, we continue our journey to Sintra. We will tour Sintra. Sintra will welcome us with its boutique shops, colorful and ornate houses reminiscent of castles, and cobblestone streets. However, the most important feature that earned the town a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List is its architectural monuments and buildings from the Romantic Period. After our Sintra tour through avenues and streets surrounded by palaces and churches, we continue our journey to Lisbon. On the way, we will visit Cabo da Roca, called “the End of the World” and the westernmost point of the European Continent. After a short break where we will give you time to take photos of the ocean and the famous beaches frequented by surfers, we continue our tour with panoramic sightseeing in Estoril, one of the most famous resort towns known as Lisbon’s backyard. After breakfast and checkout, we depart to organize our Cordoba city tour. On our panoramic Cordoba city tour, we discover Cordoba, founded during the Roman Empire and in the 10th century the largest city in Europe under Islamic rule. In the city center, where Islamic influences can still be seen today and which was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1984, our city tour includes panoramically seen sights such as Alcazar De Los Reyes Cristianos, the Royal Palace, and the Roman Bridge, with its 1000-year history. GRANADA – (Toledo Tour) – MADRID
After breakfast and checkout, we set off for Madrid. On the way, guests who wish may join our extra Toledo Tour program (50 Euro). Upon our arrival in Toledo, we organize our tour. Founded by Jews in 590 BC and today home to people belonging to three major religions living together peacefully, Toledo, one of Spain’s most important cities in historical and touristic terms, is also known as the “city of knights.” The Tagus, the largest river in the Iberian Peninsula, runs through the city. The city was the capital of the Kingdom of Spain for a long time. As one of the world’s largest medieval cities, it was included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List and placed under protection. Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote, was born in this city. The Toledo Cathedral, one of the world’s most expensive works, built over approximately 270 years, formerly a mosque and today the 3rd most important cathedral in the world and Spain’s principal cathedral, containing the world’s most valuable works, the San Martin Bridge, Damasquinos (Damascene work), workshops and shops where gold handcrafts are made, are among the places seen panoramically on our tour. After the tour, we set off for Madrid. After breakfast, full day free time. During this free time, guests who wish may join our extra Figueres - Dalí Museum & Outlet Tour program (95 Euro). We begin the first part of our tour, the Girona & Figueres & Dalí Museum Tour. Our first stop on the tour will be Girona, the largest city in Catalonia, which enchants visitors with its museums, galleries, Gothic-style architectural works, and walls rising around its narrow, cobblestone, labyrinth-like streets. On our visit to Girona, we will see and photograph the colorful houses lined along the Onyar River, which divides the city into two, and walk along Libertat Street, a traffic-free street in the old town square surrounded by walls, with each exit leading to narrow streets in a labyrinth pattern. In the city where Christians, Catalan Jews, and Muslims lived together throughout history, we complete our tour by seeing Girona Cathedral panoramically and then depart for our next stop, the Dalí Museum in Figueres. After a short sightseeing tour in Figueres, which hosts the museum designed by Salvador Dalí as a theater building to house his works while he was still alive and where he was born, we will visit the Dalí Museum (admission included in the tour price) and, accompanied by our guide, embark on an art tour in the museum that houses 4,000 of Dalí’s works.
