One of the cathedral’s most remarkable features is the bronze door called the “Gate of Paradise,” on which scenes from the stories of prophets, some of which are also mentioned in the Holy Quran, are depicted. Later, Giotto’s Bell Tower, once used to call the people to parliament, Signoria Square, the political and social center of Florence for centuries and home to Michelangelo’s famous David statue, and the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio), famous for its antique and jewelry shops, are among the places to be seen. ROME – (Rome Icons & Vatican Tour) – (New Year Special Rome Night Tour)
After breakfast, we offer a full day of free time. Guests who wish may join our extra Rome Icons & Vatican Tour (80 Euro). On our tour, we first take you on a historical journey through Rome and its icons, a city referred to as Urbs aput mundi, meaning “the city at the center of the world,” with its art, history, music, shopping, sun, and cuisine, and its buildings in different styles ranging from antiquity to the Renaissance. While the works created by architects competing with one another attract thousands of tourists to the city in every season, Rome can carry even these crowds with all its beauty and aesthetics without overwhelming the visitor. On our tour, in Rome, the imperial city that shaped European civilization and has witnessed 23 centuries of history, we will first see the Colosseum, the symbol of the city and an ancient theater that hosted gladiator fights throughout the Roman Empire; the Roman Forum, the ceremonial center of the city during imperial times; the Fountain of Love, where, according to legend, those who toss a coin into it will return to Rome; the Spanish Steps, famous for street artists; and Piazza Pietra and Piazza Popolo, which will be seen panoramically. After a short free time, we visit Vatican / San Pietro, the center of the Catholic branch of Christianity and the smallest country in the world by area, starting our tour by seeing Castel Sant’Angelo – the Castle of Angels and Navona Square. We offer free time in St. Peter’s Square (Aziz Petrus Square), where the San Pietro Cathedral, the world’s largest cathedral with 140 saints’ statues, is located, and where thousands of Catholics come and gather for worship every year, and on special occasions the Pope steps outside from his seat and greets the people. After the free time, we return to our hotel in the Rome area. Upon arrival at the hotel, we offer free time to rest. During this free time, guests who wish may join our extra New Year Special Rome Night Tour (35 Euro). In this tour, which we begin panoramically and explore Rome’s streets at any hour of the day with the aesthetic beauty added by the evening lights, we will offer free time at the world-famous Novana Square and Pantheon. During this free time, at many surrounding cafes, you can taste the finest examples of traditional Italian pasta, especially Cacio e Pepe, considered the symbol of Rome (a famous Roman pasta prepared with Pecorino Romano cheese and freshly ground black pepper). For guests who prefer a light snack, we recommend Supplì filled with mozzarella; for dessert lovers, we recommend trying the Roman Maritozzo, a cream-filled specialty of Rome that the Romans traditionally offer with a ring inside when proposing marriage. At the end of the tour, we arrive at our hotel in the Rome area.
