Northern Cyprus Tour | 2 Nights 3 Days Accommodation Istanbul Departure Tour Program

After arriving at Ercan Airport, we meet our guide and transfer vehicle and begin our tour. Following a brief introduction at the airport, we head toward Lefkoşa, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The distance between Ercan Airport and the city center of Lefkoşa is approximately 25 kilometers, and our journey takes about 30 minutes on average. Along the way, we reach Lefkoşa while receiving information from our guide about Cyprus’s recent history and island culture.

We begin our visit with the Barbarism Museum, which bears witness to the island’s recent history. The house where the family of Medical Major Nihat İlhan lost their lives during the events of 1963, known in history as “Bloody Christmas,” is now open to visitors as a museum. After visiting the museum accompanied by our guide’s explanations, we view the Green Line, which divides Lefkoşa into two parts, panoramically.

In the continuation of our tour, we move to the Surlariçi area, where Lefkoşa’s historical texture is felt at its best. We get off our vehicle at the monumental Kyrenia Gate and begin our walking tour. During the walk we will take inside the walls, the Cyprus Turkish History, Culture and National Struggle Museum, Samanbahçe Houses, Sarayönü Square, and the Obelisk are seen. Then we visit Selimiye Mosque, one of Lefkoşa’s most magnificent structures, where Gothic and Ottoman architecture can be seen together.

In the final part of our visit, we walk through the Arasta Bazaar, which dates from the Ottoman period to the present day, and see the Lokmacı Border Gate connecting the north and south of Lefkoşa. After a short free time, we complete the day’s program and head to our hotel, where we will stay overnight.

After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we depart for Kyrenia. Our approximately 40-kilometer journey takes about 1 hour on average. During this pleasant trip, which we make by traveling along the foothills of the Besparmak Mountains, we receive information from our guide about Cyprus’s history and Kyrenia.

After arriving in Kyrenia, our first stop is the Blue House, one of the island’s most interesting structures. Standing out with its location, architecture, and mysterious story, this mansion is one of the most intriguing buildings in Cyprus. During our visit, we also receive information from our guide about the drinking water project brought from the Anamur coast in Turkey through underwater pipes and the Geçitköy Dam.

After our excursion, we turn our route to the Karaoğlanoğlu Region, where the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation took place. Here, by visiting the Peace and Freedom Museum, Ship Museum, Gazi Helicopter, Open-Air Museum, and Martyrs’ Cemetery, we have the opportunity to see the traces of the Cyprus Peace Operation on site.

Continuing our tour, we head to Bellapais Monastery, located at the foothills of the Besparmak Mountains and fascinating with its Gothic architecture. In the impressive atmosphere of the monastery, we receive information from our guide about both the history of Cyprus and the monastery’s past. The Kyrenia view seen from the monastery also offers a unique opportunity for photography enthusiasts.

After our excursion, we move to the center of Kyrenia. First, we give a short free time at the Historic Kyrenia Bazaar. Then we visit Kyrenia Ancient Harbor, considered one of the most beautiful harbors in the Mediterranean, and Kyrenia Castle located right next to it.

On our return route, we visit Boğaz Martyrs’ Cemetery to commemorate our martyrs, and after the excursion we head to our hotel where we will stay overnight. Dinner and accommodation are at our hotel.

After the breakfast we will have at the hotel in the morning, we set off for our Famagusta tour. The distance between Kyrenia and Famagusta is approximately 70 kilometers, and our journey takes an average of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Along the way, we arrive in the city while receiving information from our guide about Cyprus’s history and Famagusta.

We begin our Famagusta tour with the Varosha Closed Area. Closed after the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and inaccessible to visitors for many years, this area is now referred to as the “Ghost City.” During our visit to Varosha, once one of the Mediterranean’s most popular holiday destinations, we see the mosque built in 1813 belonging to the Bilal Ağa Foundation, as well as the area with old hotels and buildings that resemble an open-air film set.

After our tour, we move on to the Walled City area of Famagusta. During our walking tour in this historic city surrounded by medieval walls, we have the opportunity to see the city’s important historical landmarks, especially Namık Kemal Dungeon and the Venetian Palace.

After our tour, depending on our flight time, we give a short free time in the center of Famagusta. Guests who wish may take a coffee break at Petek Pastry Shop, one of the area’s most well-known venues, and experience Cyprus’s unique desserts.

After the free time, we head to the airport. After our enjoyable Cyprus trip, we say goodbye to our tour guide and captain and proceed to the airport to complete our check-in procedures.
