School Trip | MADAME TUSSAUDS ISTANBUL (Wax Museum)
The world-famous museum in its field was first established in London 250 years ago by Marie, who was taught by Dr. Philippe Curtius, one of the leading wax artists of the time. After the success of the first museum in London, the duo moved to France to teach members of the royal family and opened many exhibitions there to help people keep up with the agenda.
Although the museum collection initially consisted of statues of royalty, politicians, and revolutionaries, over time, with the addition of athletes, scientists, and musicians, Madame Tussauds turned into a cultural attraction that drew millions. Madame Tussauds Istanbul, the museum’s 21st branch, opened its doors to visitors in 2016.
The reason these works can attract such great interest is that the statues are exact replicas of their originals. For this, first, hundreds of measurements of the person to be made into a figure are taken, and photos are taken from many different angles. Then, using the measurements and photos, a 150-kilogram clay mold is carved. After going through 6 different processes, the statue finally turns into a masterpiece worth $300,000.
