Departing from the designated meeting points, we begin our overnight journey for the Kazdağları Assos Troy Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial Tour.
2nd Day: Mount Ida - Kaz Mountains - Tahtakuşlar Village - Adatepe Village - Altar of Zeus - Behramkale - Assos - Temple of Athena - Acropolis -
After a free breakfast on the road in the morning, we head to Mount Kaz, called Ida in ancient times, where God Zeus directed the Trojan War and which hosted the world’s first beauty contest. After a short walk, we see the pond called Hasanboğuldu (The Dramatic Story of Hasan and Emine), and then visit Tahtakuşlar Village, the village of the Tahtacı Turkmen, who fled the Mongol pressure in the 13th century and came to Anatolia, later settling in the region when Fatih Sultan Mehmet said, “If you are comfortable here, stay.” We visit the Ethnography Gallery there.
After our visit to Tahtakuşlar, we receive information about olives and olive oil at an olive oil factory, taste them, and have the opportunity to shop. After free time, we head to Küçükkuyu Adatepe Village. After free time in the village, we see the Altar of Zeus. Following our visit to the Altar of Zeus, we head to Yeşilyurt Village, the second place in the world with the highest level of oxygen. We have free time and a photo break in the village. Yeşilyurt Village is also referred to in mythology as the mountain where the “First Beauty Queen Contest” was held. Mount Ida, mentioned in Greek mythology as the place where the goddesses Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena participated in a beauty contest, is known today as Mount Kaz. The legends about the mountain do not end there. According to mythology, Zeus was born here, the gods watched the Trojan War from here, and Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, fell in love here for the first time. After our visit to Yeşilyurt Village, we head toward Assos, known today as Behramkale.
Upon arriving in Assos, after a short climb, we ascend to the hill called the Acropolis, where the Temple of Athena, dating back to the 5th century B.C., is located. After seeing the temple, you will be captivated by the magnificent view of the Aegean Sea; if you are lucky, you may see the island of Lesbos, Greece’s third-largest island after Crete and Euboea, located quite close to Türkiye. We also have a panoramic view of Assos Harbor from here. We then begin our journey toward our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
Day 3: Ancient City of Troy – Çanakkale – Gallipoli – 57th Infantry Regiment – Chunuk Bair
Dear guests; after enjoying the open-buffet breakfast served at our hotel, we depart and arrive at the Ancient City of Troy (Troya), the subject of the first war in history between the East and the West. When we enter this ancient city, which has a rich 5,000-year history, we begin our tour by seeing the Wooden Horse, built in accordance with the legend of Troy that welcomes us in all its grandeur. In the ancient city, which was burned and destroyed nine times and rebuilt in the same location, we have the opportunity to see its sloping and interconnected walls, the intermediate gates in the walls, its ramped gates, altar, bathhouse, sewer system and odeon.
Following our tour of the Ancient City of Troy, we travel to Çanakkale and cross to Eceabat by ferry. After arriving in Eceabat, we reach the Gallipoli Peninsula and begin seeing, one by one, the traces of the Battle of Çanakkale, which began in 1914 and in which a total of 253,000 of our soldiers were martyred or became casualties. Our first stop is the Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial, the largest monument on the peninsula. After visiting the memorial, we pass through Alçıtepe Village, formerly known as Kitre, and visit the 57th Regiment Martyrs' Cemetery, built in 1994 by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Türkiye in memory of the martyrs of the 57th Infantry Regiment, whose heroism during the Çanakkale Battles became legendary and who all fell in battle. We then ascend Conk Bayırı, from where we have the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the Aegean Sea and the Anafartalar Plain. We also see the place at Conk Bayırı where Mustafa Kemal's watch was broken.
At the end of our visit to the cemeteries, we continue our journey via Keşan – Tekirdağ (we have the famous Tekirdağ meatballs in Tekirdağ) (Extra). In the late evening, we drop you off at the points where we picked you up and bid you farewell until another itctur.com journey.
General Information
• Our tour departs from Istanbul and begins with an overnight journey. It is important that you are ready at the specified departure points at least 5 minutes before the departure time.
• The tour program includes walks and excursions at various locations such as the Kaz Mountains, Adatepe, Assos, the Ancient City of Troy, and the Gallipoli Martyrs' Memorials. Therefore, comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the season are recommended.
• Due to weather and road conditions, crowding at the points of visit, or operational reasons, the guide may change the order and times of the program. Since the return time may vary depending on traffic congestion, an exact return time is not provided.
• To enjoy a comfortable and pleasant trip throughout the tour, it is recommended that you bring water, sunscreen, a hat, spare clothing, and your personal necessities. You must check the tour confirmation that will be sent after the reservation and participate in the trip accordingly.
